    Eligibility Criteria Physical Criteria:
    • Candidates must be physically and mentally fit for admission to National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) Examination (I) & (II), 2020. Every year, many candidates fail to qualify in the medical test. Hence, candidates are advised to get themselves medically examined before applying for the examination.
    • Aspirants are also advised to rectify a few minor defects/ ailments such as Wax (ears), Deviated Nasal Septum, Hydrocele/Phimosis, Overweight/Underweight, Under Sized Chest, Piles, Tonsillitis and Varicocele.
    Height and Weight Standard:
    • The minimum acceptable height is 157 cms (162.5 cms for Air Force). The minimum height is relaxed by 5 cms for Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North-Eastern regions of India, Garhwal and Kumaon. However, the minimum height is reduced by 2 cms for candidates belonging to Lakshadweep.
    Vision Standard : Naval Candidates:

    Air Force Candidates: Candidates who are wearing spectacles habitually are not eligible for Air Force. According to the official sources, the minimum distant vision 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other, correctable to 6/6 only for Hypermetropia. Colour vision CP-I Hypermetropia: +2.0 D Sph Manifest Myopia : Nil Retinoscopic Myopia : 0.5 in any Meridian permitted Astigmatism : + 0.75 D Cyl (within + 2.0 D.Max) Maddox Rod Test. Physical Conditioning  The aspiring candidates are advised to be in the good physical condition by following the routine mentioned below.
    1. Running 2.4 km in 15 minutes
    2. Skipping
    3. Pushups and sit ups (minimum 20 each)
    4. Chin ups (minimum 08)
    5. Rope climbing 3-4 metres.
    Nationality: A candidate must be either: (i) a Citizen of India, or (ii) a subject of Nepal, or (iii) a subject of Bhutan, or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Note: Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India Certificate of eligibility will not, however, be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal Educational Qualification:
    1. For Army Wing of National Defence Academy:
    The candidates must have the Class 12 pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
    1. For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy:
    The candidates must have the Class 12 pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.   Note:
    • Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination. Such candidates who qualify the SSB interview but could not produce Matriculation/10+2 or equivalent certificate in original at the time of SSB interview should forward duly self-attested Photocopies
    • Candidates appearing in the 11th class exam are not eligible for this examination
    • Those candidates who have yet to qualify in the 12th class or equivalent examination and are allowed to appear in the UPSC Examination should note that this is only a special concession given to them. They are required to submit proof of passing the 12th class or equivalent examination by the prescribed date of UPSC (i.e. for NDA (I) is December 24, 2019, and for NDA (II) is June 24, 2020) and no request for extending this date will be entertained on the grounds of late conduct of Board/University Examination, delay in declaration of results or any other ground whatsoever
    • Candidates who are debarred by the Ministry of Defence from holding any type of Commission in the Defence Services shall not be eligible for admission to the examination and if admitted, their candidature will be cancelled
    • Those candidates who have failed INSB/PABT earlier are not eligible for Air Force
    Age Limit : Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status:
    Lower Age Limit 15.7 years / 16 years during the commencement of course
    Upper Age Limit 18.7 years / 19 years during the commencement of course
      For NDA & NA (I): (2021) Age Limit: Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than July 2, 2000, and not later than July 1, 2003, are eligible. For NDA & NA (II) (2021) Age Limit: Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than January 2, 2001, and not later than January 1, 2004, are eligible. Note:
    • The date of birth accepted by the Commission is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognised by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or in an extract from a Register of Matriculates maintained by a University which must be certified by the proper authority of the University or in the Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination certificates.
    • Candidates should note that only the date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation/Higher Secondary Examination Certificate available or an equivalent certificate on the date of submission of applications will be accepted by the Commission and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted
    • Candidates should also note that once a date of birth has been claimed by them and entered in the records of the Commission for the purpose of admission to an examination, no change will be allowed subsequently or at any subsequent examination on any ground whatsoever
    • The candidates should exercise due care while entering their date of birth in the respective column of the Online Application Form for the examination. If on verification at any subsequent stage any variation is found in their date of birth from the one entered in their matriculation or equivalent examination certificate, disciplinary action will be taken against them by the Commission under the Rules
    • Candidates must undertake not to marry until they complete their full training. A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his application though successful at this or any subsequent Examination will not be selected for training. A candidate who marries during training shall be discharged and will be liable to refund all expenditure incurred on him by the Government.
    Roles and Responsibilities:
    • On reporting to the Academy, a cadet is allotted to one of the 18 Squadrons, which becomes his home-away-from-home for the next three years. The Squadrons are named as Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hunter, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Panther, Quebec, and Romeo. No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 Battalions have four squadrons each while No. 5 has 2 squadrons. Each squadron has approximately 100 to 120 cadets drawn from senior as well as junior courses under training in the Academy
    • They earn INR 21,000 as stiffened. After completing three years training in Pune, they will obtain a degree from JNTU in computer science/ B.A. after that trade training is given and their career starts in Indian army lieutenant. And navy candidates can start their career as a sub-lieutenant and those who selected air force start their career flying officer

CDS exam is a wonderful opportunity to join Indian armed forces which Is conducted by UPSC twice every year to select potential male and female Candidates to undergo training At IMA, OTA, AFA Or NA. The Notification for the examination is usually released in the months of October and June, and the examinations are conducted in February and November respectively.

Eligibility Criteria Physical Criteria:
  • Candidates must be physically and mentally fit according to prescribed physical standards for admission to CDS (I) & CDS (II).
  • A candidate who has resigned or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any of the training academies of Armed Forces is not eligible to apply.
  • Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of the forearm, i.e. from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of the hand.
  • Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable and candidates will be barred from further selection. Tribes with tattoo marks on the face or body as per their existing custom and traditions will be permitted on a case to case basis.
  • The concessions are not applicable for Air Force Height and Weight standards are mentioned i the official notification for Army and Navy only. Interpolation for weights against height not mentioned may be done

Note:
  • Graduates with the first choice as Army/Navy/Air Force are to submit proof of graduation provisional certificates on the date of commencement of the SSB Interview at the SSB.
  • Candidates who are studying in the final year/semester Degree course and have yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply provided candidate
  • Should not have any present backlog up to the last semester/year for which results have been declared up to the time of submission of application and they will be

  • For Indian Naval Academy – Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than January 02, 1996, and not later than January 01, 2001, only are eligible.
  • For Air Force Academy – 20 to 24 years as on January 01, 2020, i.e. born not earlier than January 02, 1996, and not later than January 01, 2000, (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 yrs, i.e. born not earlier than January 02, 1994, and not later than January 01, 2000) only are eligible.
  • For Officers’ Training Academy — (SSC Course for men) unmarried male candidates born not earlier than January 02, 1995, and not later than January 01, 2021, only are eligible. For Officers’ Training Academy – (SSC Women Non-Technical Course) Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Exam Details:

The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) refers to the uniform nomenclature of seven security forces in India under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs. They are the Assam Rifles (AR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Security Guard (NSG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

Eligibility Criteria: Nationality:
  • No person who is not a citizen of India shall, except with the consent of the Central Government signified in writing be appointed or employed under these Rules.
  • Provided that nothing contained in these rules shall debar the appointment, enrolment or employment of a subject of Nepal or Bhutan under these Rules.
Sex: Both Male and Female candidates are eligible for appointment to the post of Assistant Commandants. Educational Qualification: Here are the certain educational qualifications that the applicants must possess to be eligible for CAPF:
  • As part of UPSC CAPF Eligibility Criteria, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a government recognised university. The University should be incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India
  • Other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 are also acceptable
  • Those candidates, who have appeared in the qualifying examination and have yet not got their results, can also apply for CAPF Exam. But it must be kept in mind that the admission would be provisional until the candidate produces proof of passing the examination after qualifying the entrance test of CAPF
Age Limit :
  • The candidate must have acquired a minimum age of 20 years. The upper age limit of the candidate must be 25 years. However, the upper age limit up to a maximum of five years can be relaxed for candidates belonging to SC/ST category
  • Up to a maximum of three years for the candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes can be relaxed
  • The candidate who wishes to apply for CAPF 2021 must be an Indian national. Both female and male candidates can apply for the CAPF exam. There are different medical standards set by UPSC to apply for the desired post through UPSC CAPF 2021
  • The candidates who have already been once selected on the basis of the CAPF exam earlier cannot apply for the exam
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assistant Commandant (AC) lead a company of around 150 armed personnel, which is deployed for conducting elections and maintaining normalcy, apart from the original mandates of border guarding and guarding the industrial corridors (CISF). Though CRPF is one such force which is directly involved in law and order maintenance and assisting the local administration in maintaining the local order
  • The Assistant Commandant has to perform functions like planning and conduct of operations, ensuring on the job training to keep the Company in the constant state of operational preparedness for the requirement in any situation, organizing independent intelligence network for operational efficiency, ensuring efficacy and serviceability of armaments in the Company.

AFCAT Exam Details

The Indian Air Force releases Notification for AFCAT exam twice in a year. In the notification, IAF mentions the AFCAT exam date as well as dates of other events.

AFCAT Eligibility:

Candidates willing to appear for AFCAT exam are required to meet the eligibility conditions of the examination as mentioned by IAF on the notification.

Aspirants of AFCAT exam are required to fulfil the following eligibility criteria-

Nationality – Indian

Marital Status – Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course.  Widows/ Widowers and divorcees below 25 years are also not eligible.

Age Limit 

  1. Flying Branch (NCC Special Entry & AFCAT entry) – 20 to 24 years
  2. Ground Duty (technical & Non-technical) – 20 to 26 years
  3. IAF accepts the date of birth that is mentioned in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognized by an Indian University.

Educational Qualification – the criteria for minimum education for Flying Branch and Ground Duty (technical and Non-technical) branches is different. However, to apply for the AFCAT exam, Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level.

 

AFCAT Exam Pattern

  • There will be a total of 100 MCQs will be asked from four sections as Numerical Ability, General Awareness and Reasoning, Verbal Ability, and Military Aptitude.
  • The candidates will be rewarded three marks for each correct answer.
  • There will be a negative marking of one mark for each incorrect attempt.

Airmen Group X And Group Y Exam Details

Educational Criteria:

The educational criteria for Group X and Group Y are as mentioned below.

  • Passed two years vocational course with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in the vocational course.
Group Y Medical Assistant Trade
  • Passed 10+2/Intermediate/ equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

Physical Fitness Test:

  • There will be 1.6 Km run to be completed within 06 minutes 30 seconds. Candidates shall also have to complete 10 Push-ups, 10 Sit-ups and 20 Squats within the stipulated time to qualify in the Physical Fitness Test.
  • Adaptability Test- 1 (For both Group ‘ X’ & Group ‘Y’ Trades) – All candidates who pass the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) shall have to undertake Adaptability Test-I (objective type written test) which is to assess the suitability of a candidate for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather and operational conditions.
  • Adaptability Test- 2 (For both Group ‘ X’ & Group ‘Y’ Trades) – All candidates who pass Adaptability Test – I shall have to undertake Adaptability Test- II as per policy in vogue. Adaptability Test- II is to select candidates who can adapt to the environment of the Indian Air Force and are able to adjust to the military way of life.

 

 

Medical Fitness Test:

(i) Height

Minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cms

Minimum acceptable height for IAF(P) trade – 165 Cms (For NE and Hill States) 175 Cms (For other States)

Minimum acceptable height for Auto Tech trade -162.5 Cms (For NE and Hill States) 165 Cms (For other States)

Note: Candidates from NE and Hill states includes Gorkhas, Kumaonis, Garhwalis, Assamese and those belonging to the states of Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Sikkim and hilly areas of Uttaranchal.

(ii) Chest

The minimum range of expansion: 5 cm

(iii) Weight

Proportionate to height and age. However, the minimum weight of 55 Kg required for Operations Assistant (ATS) Trade only.

(iv) Corneal Surgery

(PRK/LASIK) is not acceptable.

(v) Hearing

Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately.

(vi) Dental

Should have healthy gums, a good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points.

(vii) General Health

Candidate should be of normal anatomy without loss of any appendages. He should be free from any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical disability or infection and skin ailments. The candidate shall be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.

Application Fees For IAF Group X, Y Exam 2021

Examination fee of Rs.250/- is to be paid by the candidate while registering for the online examination. The payment can be made by using Debit Cards/ Credit Cards/Internet Banking through the payment gateway. The examination fee can also be paid by Challan payment at any Axis Bank Branch.
